LOCAL BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT

‘Coffee, community, and character’ are the core tenets of the Exceptional Bean—a Cookeville coffee shop opened in 2022 that currently employs more than 30 individuals with disabilities to give them a place of work, purpose, and community. Started by local entrepreneurs Michael and Cigi England, this non-profit is located in the former One Hour Martinizing building. It has been beautifully remodeled into a functional coffeehouse with a large open dining area and lots of natural light. You can help support their mission by visiting and buying a cup of coffee, or making a donation here.

MARCH GIVEAWAYS

Just by being a Cookeville Buzz subscriber, you are automatically entered into our monthly giveaway featuring prizes from local Cookeville businesses! 🎉

Cookeville Buzz does two giveaways a month, one for all our subscribers, and one specifically for our premium subscribers. (Hint: odds are pretty good for our premium subscribers because Cookeville Buzz is so new 😉).

Available to Free & Premium Subscribers:

$20 Gift Card to Poet’s Coffee

As Cookeville’s original coffee shop, Poet’s Coffee has been brewing coffee for the Upper Cumberland since 1995. Since then, it’s expanded from its iconic Poet’s on the Square to an additional coffeehouse in the former Perk Up Espresso building down on Jefferson Ave. A common spot for Tennessee Tech homework sessions, playdates, and business meetings, Poet’s Coffee is an enduring Cookeville favorite with a straightforward coffee menu and gourmet sandwiches.

Available only to Premium Subscribers:

$50 Gift Card to Outdoor Experience

Yet another Cookeville classic, since 1998, Outdoor Experience has been the go-to shop for quality outdoor gear and education. Whether you need resources and equipment for climbing, kayaking, fly fishing, traveling, backpacking, hiking, or biking, Outdoor Experience has the knowledge and stock for anything you need. They also offer guided adventures and a seasonal Outpost with onsite mountain bike and kayak rentals. As they say, “Life is too short to stay indoors.”

*We will announce the March winners in the first week of April. You will have 7 days to respond to claim your prize if you win.
